RED BANK, NJ – Detour Gallery, New Jersey’s premier center for the arts is pleased to announce the solo exhibition featuring works by Michel LaBua The Exhibit runs from June 3 to July 8 at 24 Clay St. Red Bank, NJ.
The opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 6 to 10 pm.
Detour Gallery is enthused to introduce an eye-opening sense of humanity which is found within the depths of oil paintings by American-born artist Micheal Labua. This Brooklyn native transforms large wood panels into declarations of human behavior and social obloquy through painting from his own psyche, innate spirit, and personal journey. Labua's style has strong influences from Baroque masters like Caravaggio, Velasquez and Vermeer; while his subject matter is strongly influenced by Saville, Bacon, and Gottfried Helnwein.
