Renowned Artist Holly Suzanne Rader Unveils "Dreamwreck" Solo Exhibition, an Exploration of Life, Loss, and Redemption through Art.

[New York, NY - 10/20/23] - Holly Suzanne Rader, a distinguished artist celebrated for her captivating and innovative work, is set to unveil her highly anticipated solo exhibition, "Dreamwreck." This remarkable showcase promises to be a journey into the depths of human experience, intertwining the allure of dreams with the rawness of reality. Rader will make her New York City debut at Detour Gallery in New York City.

As a Southern-raised woman, hailing from the vibrant state of Tennessee, Rader is deeply connected to the traditions of storytelling, folklore, and the rhinestone-clad country music legends that define her homeland. Her artistic evolution has taken her from the romantic streets of France to the bustling, artistic tapestry of New York City, all while raising her family in the eclectic landscape of New Jersey. It is at the intersection of these diverse worlds that she found herself facing the profound collision of her own identity.

"I was ok, and then I was not ok," Rader recounts. "I crashed into myself while reaching for a bottle of pink champagne. Welcome to my Dreamwreck. I have no idea where I am going, so come with me…"

This poignant journey began with the loss of loved ones, including her beloved dog, Yoshi, which felt like a crossbow shot straight into her heart. For the first time in her life, she experienced the depths of grief, and with it, a newfound honesty about herself. It was as if she had fallen from her pink cloud with a resounding thud, confronting the undeniable truths of her existence.

Rader's "Dreamwreck" exhibition is an artistic testimony to the transformation that can arise from facing life's pivotal moments head-on. The collection of artworks on display encapsulates her journey from a place of vulnerability. “Life and experience brings us all to a turning point if we are lucky enough to face the truth. Here I stand in my reality. I am a sober, flawed and happy woman. Here I bring to you my embellished truths and tall tales about something very real”.

The portraits within this exhibition feature Rader's favorite muses, beautifully dressed to reflect her interpretation of their modernity. Her inspiration is drawn from diverse sources, including film noir, flower gardens, fashion, punk culture, and folklore. Rader employs meticulous craftsmanship, often adding "one bead at a time," which serves as a therapeutic and meditative process, offering a respite from life's challenges and an entry into the realm of romantic surrealism.

Rader refers to herself as an "ornamentalist," and "Dreamwreck" is an intricate story that unravels the tapestry of life, death, and everything extraordinary and complex in between. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the souls who have touched her life and then moved on: her beloved grandmother, sweet aunt, dear dog Yoshi, and their cherished friend Toni.

The "Dreamwreck" solo exhibition by Holly Suzanne Rader is an intimate and immersive journey through the depths of human experience, poised to engage, provoke thought, and ultimately inspire. Join us for this captivating exploration of artistry, emotion, and self-discovery.
